IELTS Speaking Part 2 Answer by IELTS test taker

Well, I think a short nap at noon can help me concentrate on my study. Currently, I am facing a heavy pressure everyday. On the one hand, I am preparing for my IELTS examinations in order to apply for my master degree abroad. On the other hand, I have to get a good score in my examination since I need to guarantee that I can achieve a good GPA at the end of the semester. In this case, in order to maintain a high study efficiency, I will always choose to take a short nap at noon, and I think it is very helpful.

As for my feeling about it, what I want to mention firstly is that taking a short nap at noon can help us refresh the brain. After studying for more than four hours’ in the morning, the students will always feel very exhausted. If they can take á short nap at this time, they will definitely feel energetic since taking a nap can let the brain get a fully rest. Secondly, a short nap at noon can get rid of the sleepiness. Generally speaking, people may always feel asleep at noon, during which it is almost impossible for them to concentrate on the study. If they cannot have a good rest at that time, people may feel sleepy during the whole afternoon. So, I feel that taking a short nap at noon can let people be energetic in the rest of the day and it can help people better concentrate on study.

1) Is it important for children to learn how to concentrate?

Yes, I think it is crucially for children to learn how to concentrate. It is not a matter of whether they will finish the task or not, it is a matter of habit. As children learn to concentrate on their work or task that they are doing, they will gradual!” form the habit of concentration that will carry on to their adulthood whenever they are doing a certain task. This habit can be highly beneficial as it improves one’s productivity and competence. There are many ways to help employees concentrate. Firstly, employers should always set a deadline for every single task they do and allow no room for delay. I think the jobs that are competitive requires higher concentrations at work, especially high-tech jobs like coding O’ computer. Working in those fields can be highly stressful and many coders say they can never get their work done and have no time for sleep. As a consequence, they are the ones that need to have a clear mind at work to know what to do, and figure out solutions as fast as they can, which requires more concentration to improve productivity and efficiency.

4) Have you ever felt difficult to concentrate?

As a matter of fact, I feel difficult to concentrate very often. When I am working, I am sometimes just staring at my book, turning the pages, but actually absent-minded, with something else on my mind. And my cellphone is my biggest source 0distraction. Whenever I am doing my work or study, with my cellphone with me, I would feel the urge to check it very frequently. I find it very hard to concentrate as I am always worried that someone might have texted me for some very important issues.

5) What kinds of distractions are bothering you in your life?

There are many types of distractions bothering me in my life, such as my cellphone, the newest TV shows, news of my favorite pop stars and so on. Among them the biggest distraction is definitely my cellphone, which I am always checking whenever I am doing some tasks or study, for fear that someone important might text me, while in most cases there was no one at all. In addition, I sometimes can sometimes also be distracted by some fussy things in life, such as what to eat for dinner or what TV show to watch at night.
