IELTS Speaking Part 1 Questions – Topic: Water sports
- Have you done any water sports?
I think the only water sport I have ever done is swimming. I know it is really paradoxical ( impossible or difficult to understand) because in my country, we have many bodies of water (a large area of water) where people can immerse themselves in (to put something or someone under the surface of a liquid like water) water sports, but that is not the case for me.
- Are water sports popular in your country?
Yes I think so, especially in some coastal cities. People can pretty much try any kinds of water sports they like such as wakeboarding ( water sport in which athletes are pulled by a boat and use the wake to jump and spin in the air), surfing or even rafting (the use of a rubber raft to travel with the current of a river).
- What kind of water sports do you want to try? What water sports do you like doing?
I think I’m gonna give scuba diving a go (give sth a go: try doing sth) since I am so fascinated about the marine (underwater) life. Besides, from what I’ve read, scuba diving (type of sport in which you swim underwater with special breathing equipment) can help me improve my concentration capacity as I have to simultaneously (happening or done at the same time) keep my balance while swimming and pay attention to the marine environment. So I hope I can try scuba diving in the future.
