BAND 8+ SAMPLE ANSWER

So I’ve decided to tell you an animal that I find fascinating – Foxes.

So talking a little bit about foxes, they are small to medium-sized, omnivorous (an omnivorous animal eats both plants and meat) mammals (an animal that is born from its mother’s body, not from an egg), which means that they can survive on either eating plants or other smaller livestock. In addition, Foxes have a flattened skull, upright triangular ears, a slightly upturned snout (nose), and a long bushy tail.

And there are a few reasons why I think Foxes are interesting. Firstly, while hunting, foxes tend to use a particular pouncing (quickly jump on or hold someone or something) technique, you know, they usually crouch (move one’s body close to the ground by bending your knees) down to camouflage (a way of hiding objects or people by making them look like the natural background) themselves in the terrain (an area of land) and then use their hind legs to leap up with great force and land on top of their chosen prey. Using their pronounced canine teeth (one of the four pointed teeth towards the front of your mouth), they can then grip the prey’s neck and shake it until it is dead. And I find this extremely fascinating.

Secondly, due to their opportunist hunting style and industriousness (always working hard), foxes have been successfully employed to control pests on fruit farms while leaving the fruit intact, which is amazing in my opinion.

But sadly, the number of foxes recently have become dwindled and they actually are on the verge of extinction due to excessive illegal hunting for their pelts (fur or skin of animals). And as an animal advocate, I really hope that the authorities will enact some polices to save the species because if they died out, it would be a great loss for our ecosystem.
