IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic: Cooking and Baking

Do you like to cook?

Yes, I am into (=like) cooking. I like to prepare interesting delicacies (an expensive or rare type of food) and share it with friends and relatives. My day begins with the aroma (a strong but pleasant smell) of the spices. I feel heavenly (extremely happy, pleasant) when chopping the sweet smelling cilantro (=coriander; a plant whose leaves/seeds are used to give flavour to food)  and on hearing the mustard seeds splutter (to make noises with your mouth). Have you ever baked a cake?

Yes, I have tried to bake a cake using a stove, though. All you have to do is preheat a vessel (=a bowl; an  open container for liquids). In the meanwhile (=at the same time), you can prepare the batter (a liquid mixture of flour, milk, and eggs). You can either use cocoa or powdered chocolate biscuits. Grease (to rub a small amount of fat or oil on the inside of sth) a tray with butter, pour the batter onto it and place it in the preheated vessel (bowl) for about 45 minutes to 1 hour and your cake will be ready.

Would you like to learn how to bake?

Yes. Though I know how to make a cake and have watched a lot of YouTube videos, I would be interested in learning it from a Chef in person to improve my baking skill quickly.

What kinds of things are baked in your country?

Well, we bake a wide range of food from cakes to cookies and bread to pies. My favorite is plum cakes which are made of either dried fruits like grapes, currants, raisins or prunes (a plum preserved by drying), orange peels or with fresh fruits.
