Band 6,5 Answer by IELTS test taker

The happiest event I experienced last year was that I successfully, for the first time, finished the half Marathon.

I was brought up in poor health and frequently got fever when I was a child. Faced with such difficulty, I did not give up. started to train myself both mentally and physically in the hope that it would promote my health and the ability of studying Pretty hard as it was, I persisted, persisted and persisted, never quitted and never feared.

Last month, when I heard that Shanghai Marathon was to start again, without hesitation, I submitted my application When that day approached, I practiced even harder for the 21km running.

On that day, I got up early and chose a brightly colored sports suit. When I got there with my parents, there were already quite a few people gathering there, ready to start and I was so happy to be one of them. With the shot of the starting gun we started running. The first 5km was pretty easy for me. However, I almost hit my limit when I reached 19km. With the encouragement from my parents , I kept running. I sometimes slowed down a bit or took a rest only to rebalance mv physical status. Surprisingly, I successfully finished the 21km running with many other runners and was very happy although I didn’t get a medal.

Nothing is impossible to a willing mind. From a sick child to a half marathon runner, I was so happy to prove to everybody, especially my parents that I could make it. With persistence, I could achieve the things that seem impossible.

IELTS Speaking Part 3

1) What’s the relationship between money and happiness?

Well, I think the happiness is not directly related to the money. We cannot say that a rich person is definitely happy or not, since it totally depends on the personal mentality. Here, I would like to take the businessman for an example. In order to make more money, the businessman is always living under heavy pressure, and they seldom have time to have a rest or spend the happy time with the family. So, a rich businessman may always be unhappy. However, we cannot deny that there are still many rich people can separate the work from life, in which case, they can control their emotions perfectly and is able to find happiness in the daily hard work. So, I think that there is no direct relationship between money and happiness.

2) Do you think money is important?

Well, I think the money is important. What I want to mention firstly is that the money is directly related to the quality of my life. As a girl, I always need to use money to buy beautiful clothes, dresses and shoes, and I sometimes need to spend some money on travelling to different places around the world, in which case, my economical standard directly decides my living quality. Secondly, the money also determines my study. Nowadays, I am preparing for my IELTS examination, since I am going to study for my master degree abroad. If I do not have money, it will be impossible for me afford the tuition 4 the western country. So, based on the two reasons I mentioned, I think money is very important to me.

3) Do most people think that money is important?

Well, I think it depends on different age groups. As for the young students and middle-aged people, they think that money is important. The young people think that they need money to pay for the tuition, the beautiful clothes and so on. As for the middle-aged people, they need a large amount of money to raise the whole family and support the old people However, as for the old people, they do not want their children to give them too much money. Instead, they focus more on the family relationship, in which case, they always want their children to go back home frequently and spend a happy family time together. So, the old people do think the money is important.

4) What do you do to make yourself happy?

Well, I do many things to make myself happy. What I want to mention firstly is that I will insist on doing sports every day. To be honest, I am very busy these days, since I need to prepare for my IELTS examination in order to apply for the master degree abroad. In this case, I always feel very anxious in the evening, since I am not very good at English. In order to make myself happier, I insist on doing sports every day, and I think it is a good way to alleviate the heavy study pressure. As soon as I finish doing sports, I can feel energetic and confident immediately. Secondly, I think hanging out with my friends carl also make me feel happy. If I feel depressed, I will always ask my friends to take a walk with me and tell them about my worries. After the conversation, I will always feel happy again. So, these are my two ways to make myself happy.

5) Why are children generally happier than adults?

Well, there are several reasons. What I want to mention firstly is that the children do not have too many things to worry about. In the children’s eyes, they think that the happiest thing in life is staying with their parents and doing the thing they want. In this case, their dreams can be easily achieved. Secondly, the children do not know the difficulty of earning money. Nowadays, many adults may feel unhappy, because they find it difficult to earn money and to afford the whole family. Since the children just stay at school with their friends and classmates every day, they are generally happier than the adults.
