Band 6.5 Answer by IELTS Test Taker:

The thing that I want to replace is a camera, which has been kept in my storing box for a long time. Speaking of how I got it at the beginning, it can be concluded to be an impulsive buying. Three years ago, I got my first salary through part time job and as a college student, I wanted to take some beautiful pictures of my college life for memory and therefore, I spent my first salary purchasing a camera online for myself. However, before long, I realized that I did not do enough research before buying and the type of camera I chose was inappropriate for me to use as a beginner photographer. I took a long time to figure out how to use it and finally I have to admit that I do not possess any talent in photographing. Furthermore, for me, using cellphone camera is more suitable for me as I always forget to take the camera with me and whenever then; is a need to take photos, cellphone camera is the first option. Gradually, the camera I bought is kept in the box and its only company is dust, which is a huge waste for me. Therefore, I hope that I can replace it with something more useful to me and meantime I will not waste the use of the camera.

IELTS Speaking Part 3

1) What are other things that you want to replace?

Well, I think I want to replace many things. What I want to mention firstly is my computer. I bought my computer four years ago, and it runs really slow now. Nowadays, it always takes me about five minutes and start my computer and about four minutes to open a web page. So, it is really inconvenient to my life and study. Secondly, I also want to replace my camera. During the summer vacation and the winter vacation, I like travelling to different places, and the camera plays an important role in the trip. However, I fell my camera on the ground accidently yesterday, and the camera lens was broken Since the summer vacation is coming soon, I really want to replace my camera as soon as possible.

2) What kinds of things do young people like to replace?

Well, I think young people like to replace many things. What I want to mention firstly is the mobile phone. With the development of the science and technology, almost every student will bring a mobile phone to school every day. So, the students always get together and talk about the new functions of the latest mobile phones and may even exchange their mobile phones during the class break. In this case, many students may be attracted by the new mobile phone in thẹ market easily and they always like to replace their mobile phones. Secondly, the young people like to replace their clothes I think most of the young people, especially the young girls, like talking about their new clothes with their friends. Sol when a young student finds that his classmate looks great on a certain style of clothes, he will definitely replace his old clothes with the new style.

3) Do old people in your country like to hoard thing?

Yes, I think so. As for the reasons why I think so, what I want to mention firstly is that the old people think that hoarding things is a good virtue. Many old people think that saving is a traditional virtue, and they believe that people; should hoard everything at home even though 14 these things are unimportant or useless. Secondly, many old people think that hoarding things is a way of keeping memories. The old people think that the things at home have carried many stories and hoarding those things can help them remember the past at any time they want. So, I think the old peoplẹ like to hoard things.

4) Who do you think will want new things, children or old people?

Well, I think the children will want new things. As for the children, they are curious about the new things. Generally speaking, the children may be attracted by the new popular things easily, in which case they will be eager to know more about the new things and share what they know with their friends and families. However, as for the old people, they are accustomed to a typical lifestyle, and they think learning about a new thing is a waste of time. For example, many old people prefer to read the newspapers, instead of searching for the current news through Internet since they think it is very difficult to learn about typing words on the keyboard. So, I think the children will want to learn new things.

5) What’s the difference between new things and old things?

Well, there are many differences. What I want to mention firstly is that the new things will be more interesting. For example, with the rapid development of the technology, many new APPs, like Douyin, Douyu, and so on, have come into the market. Compared with the traditional old video APPS, these APPs are more interesting since people can share their videos with the people all around the world through these platforms. In this case, the public will be easily interested in the new things. Secondly, I think the new things can always bring the convenience to people’s lives. For example, in the past, people always wrote letters to communicate with other people and it took them about several months to receive a letter. However, the new things today, like the Wechat, the QQ, and so on, have provided an opportunity for people to receive the message from others immediately. So, I suppose that new things have brought the convenience to the public.
