Nowadays celebrities are more famous for their glamour and wealth than for their achievements, and this is a bad example to adolescents. Do you agree with this? What does this trend cause?

The ’click’ has become the mere criterion of media and to maintain steady streaming, news reports and reviews focus more on eye-catching and stunning events and achievements of glorious actresses on the red carpet and entrepreneurs on the rich list. This emphasis on appearance and triumph but ignorance of other factors deliver wrong messages to the younger generation.

Idols with remarkable achievements empower the ordinary people in different aspects in social contexts. Outstanding figures such as devoted actors, war heroes, diligent scientists and talented players are supposed to represent the importance of hard work and determination in their path to success. However, all these valuable messages are neglected and the public, especially young generations are merely impressed by their excessive display of material wealth. The number of cars and villas they possess and the garments they wear are exactly what captivate and awe the vulnerable public more.

As a result, there are several negative impacts of this trend. Now that the path to fame is hidden and its urge is irresistible, youngsters will have to deploy their own strategy in its realization. Therefore, various and sometimes extreme behavior like crimes and self-mutilation can do harm to others and themselves. In addition their confidence can be destroyed when they realize it is impossible to fill the immense gap and this may lead to idleness. Some may imitate those inappropriate standards and luxurious but unaffordable ways of living, which may put the young in plastic surgery and debts and cause a series of social problems, for instance.
