Do you agree that the advantages cars bring outweigh the disadvantages?

It is said that “The car has become an article of dress without which we feel incomplete, uncertain, and unclad”. From my perspective, the advantages of the car surpass (to outweigh) its disadvantages.
On the one hand, there are only a few drawbacks of the car. The increase in traffic jams, pollution, and accidents are the natural sequence to the burgeoning (rapidly developing) population of cars. Moreover, our reliance (dependence) on cars can lead to a fall in practices such as cycling and walking and this results in a tons of diseases such as obesity (overweight).
On the other hand, I strongly believe the advantages of a car are more outstanding (=significant). The first advantage is that it gives people freedom of movement. The ease of transportation a car can bring is more than any other forms of transportation. For example, owning a car allows you to frequent (=to go there regularly) from destination to destination and not to squander (to waste) time on waiting for train or bus. Therefore, distance and time are not a barrier (obstacle) any more. What is more, car can become specially helpful if there are the disabled, the elderly or sick members in the family. They can easily go out together in a car.
Furthermore, the automobile (=car) industry provides employees with millions of jobs. Restaurants, filling stations, and other businesses that serve automobile travelers are of major importance to a country’s economic growth. In addition, many developing countries have started making automobiles to develop their economy. That is why America has promoted many automobile manufacturing industries such as Tesla.
On balance, the advantages to people’s standard of living and economic development offered by car definitely outweigh the disadvantages. However, we must use a car effectively and wisely so that we can minimize the demerits to some extent.
