IELTS Cue Card 23 Sample Band 8+ Topic: Favourite Season Or Time of The Year

IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic: Describe your favourite season or time of the year.

You should say:
what season (or time of the year) it is
what the weather is like at this time
what people usually do at this time
and explain why you enjoy that season or time of the year or
and explain why you enjoy that season or time of the year more than other seasons or times of
the year.

BAND 8 SAMPLE ANSWER

Well, I’m living in [your city] and you know, the weather patterns are quite different between the North and the South. There are four distinct seasons in my city and the one I prefer is autumn which is full of magnificent colors.

Autumn is the most comfortable season which usually lasts for about 3 months from September to November.  Autumn is the “cooling off” month between the blazing summer and chilling winter. The weather during this season is not as scorching hot as summer. The temperature fluctuates from 20 to 28 degree celsius. Oftentimes (on many occasions) it is rainy in the evening but they are often just short showers. You can also feel cool breezes when walking on street while observing the leaves falling from the trees and changing into multi-colored works of art. Besides, It’s great time to spend quality time with your family and friends to go camping or fishing or even take a roadtrip to any place you like.

On the contrary, the summer is too boiling (very hot) to go outside so it is torturing to do these activities with your beloved friends and family. Likewise, the winter is also freezing and spring usually comes with heavy rains.
While the fresh weather in  autumn really let me feel relaxed and energizes (give someone more energy or strength) me to do a lot of things. So that is the major reason why I prefer autumn to other seasons and why it has been my favourite season of the year.
