Who you were with.
How you felt about the trip.
The destination where I took a means of public transportation to go is a small town near the city where I live. I went there by bus with my mom last mid-autumn festival. It does not take too long to arrive there. I firstly got to know the placẹ because of my friend’s recommendation.
Actually, that small town is the place where my friend grows up, so she knows it very well. It is a place famous for the beautiful buildings. Along the road, there might be a lot of unexpected surprises of nature which is part of the reason why my mom and I chose to go there by bus as we could take more time to appreciate the outside scenery. In terms of how I felt about the trip, I would say it is one of the most unforgettable experience in my life. The living tempo in modern world is so fast and taking a certain kind of public transportation to that small town can makẹ us slow down a bit.
On the bus, we can even make new friends through randomly chatting with each other and asking about other people’s opinion about the scenery outside or the longing for the destination. My mom and I had a wonderful time in that small town and thanks to my friend’s recommendation, we could find such a beautiful town to visit.
IELTS Speaking Part 3
1) In what ways can we fix traffic problems?
Well, there are many ways. What I want to mention firstly is that the government should take some measures to control the number of cars in the streets. For example, the government can control the license plate number on the streets in order to ease the traffic congestion. Secondly, the teachers and the media should publicize the concept of ‘green travel’ to the public. The teachers should tell the students that it is better for them to take the public transportation, since it is environmental friendly. The media should also tell the public about the necessity of reducing the number of cars on the street through the public videos so as to encourage the whole society to work together and to fix traffic problems.
2) Is fair to limit the use of private cars?
Well, I do not think it is fair to use private cars since I think the private cars have their own advantages. What I want to mention firstly is that it is very convenient to have private cars. Here, I would like to take the rush hour for an example. During the rush hour, it is always very crowded in the subway station and the bus station, and it usually costs people a long time waiting in the queue in order to get onto the bus or subway. However, if people have private cars, they do not have to wait in the line anymore and it can also help them save time. Secondly, I think the private car can represent a person’:! social status. When we talk about a successful person, the first thing that comes up to our mind is that he must have a car. In this case, I suppose that a private car can symbolize whether a person is successful or not. So, I suppose that we should not limit the use of private cars.
3) Should governments encourage people to use public transportation?
Yes, I think so. What I want to mention firstly is that using public transportation is environmental friendly. Nowadays, with the development of the technology, the environmental pollution in the city is becoming more and more serious. Since the? exhausted gas of the cars is a main pollution source, the government certainly needs to take some measures to encourage the public using the public transportation, instead of the private transportation. Secondly, I think it is a good way to alleviate the traffic congestion. Nowadays, the living standard of the people has been improved greatly, and most of the city residents have their own cars. Since the number of the cars on the street is increasing year by year, the traffic congestions are also becoming more and more serious these days. In order to solve this problem, I think it is indispensable for the government to use public transportation.
4) What’s the most popular means of transportation in your country?
Well, I think it depends. In the urban area, since the traffic is extremely busy every day, especially during the rush hour, people always choose to take the public transportation, including the bus, the subway and so on. Moreover, with the; development of the public transportation, many people in the city find it more convenient to take the buses and the subway while traveling in the city. However, in the suburb area, many people will choose to take the private transportation, since it is very difficult for people to find many buses or the subways in the countryside. In this case, people in the suburb prefer to drive their own cars if they want to go outside.
