Well, I would like to talk about a well-known (=famous) singer whom I have really admired since I was small, that is Alicia Keys. She is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and philanthropist (a person who helps the poor). She was raised mostly by her mother in a tough neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York.

I first knew about Alicia Keys through her famous song named “Fallin’”. At that time, I was struck (to cause someone to have a feeling or idea about something) by her angelic voice and started following her singing career since then. What makes Alicia Keys different from other artists is that her music lyrics are always uplifting (making someone feel better) and meaningful, especially when they are sung through her emotional yet powerful voice. Not only is she a talented singer with 15 Grammy awards throughout her musical career, but Alicia Keys is also a great philanthropist. She is the co-founder and Global Ambassador of Keep a Child Alive, a non-profit organization that provides medicine, orphan (a child whose parents are dead) care, and social support to families with HIV and AIDS in Africa and India. She actively supports feminism (the belief that women should be allowed the same power, rights, and opportunities as men), inspiring women around the world through her meaningful songs as well as strong actions like the “Make-up free” movement. Since 2016, she has stopped wearing make-up even when she attends events to promote natural beauty and encouraging self-confidence among women in our society.

To me, Alicia Keys is such a prime example (good example) of the kind of modern woman I want to become in the future. I long for (have a strong desire for) one day I can meet her in real life.
