Speaking of trying a new sport, I would like to say rock climbing, probably because of the Survivor Games fronted by Bea Grylls I’ve been watching on TV these days. As we all know, Bear is one of the most recognized faces in the legendary adventures and this man has inspired me a lot. Now that rock climbing has become a very popular outdoor activity, I really want to give it a try and climb low mountains for fun. Climbing a mountain is totally an exciting yet very dangerous thing. It’s a sport that requires you to be fit, patient and being able to accept failures. I probably get started with indoor–bouldering because it’s the easiest form of rock climbing. Then I would look for some indoor climbing gyms which offer lots of learning opportunities for novice climbers like me, including classes about climbing skills, private lessons. It’s really helpful to see how they place their feet on various footholds, how they grasp handholds of different sizes and shapes and how they figure out difficult moves. As to the climb gear that I need, I think I would need a climbing harness, a belay device, a well-fitting climbing helmet and suitable climbing shoes as the basic equipment. When we start out, it’s better tọ play it safely until I become better at rock climbing.

1) Why do old people like to watch sports on TV?
Well, there are many reasons. What I want to mention firstly is that most of the old people are not very busy since the have already retired from the work. After the retirement, the lifestyle of the old people becomes extremely simple. Eve morning, they may do some exercises or play chess with their old friends in the park. In the afternoon, they always sit in front of the television to have a rest. Since the old people are not very interested in the TV drama performed by some idols, most of them will choose to watch some sports programs to kill the time. Secondly, the old people think that watching sports programs on TV can make them feel excited. Since most of the old people can always feel bored easily, watching the competitive sports games on TV can make them feel energetic. So, I think these are the reasons why the old people like to watch sports on TV.
2) Are there many sports programs on TV?
Yes, I think so. Here, I would like to take X for an example. It is a typical sports channel in my country and the audience can see all kinds of sports programs on the channel all day long. When it comes to the Olympic games or the World Tournament Competition, X will give a live broadcast simultaneously to the audience. In this case, the audience can see all kinds of sports games around the world through X easily. Moreover, with the development of the technology, many people can also see variety kinds of foreign sports channels on TV easily, so I think there are many sports programs on TV nowadays.
3) How often do you play sports?
Well, I think it depends. Recently, I am busy with my IELTS examination and I also need to work hard on my study since I need to guarantee a high GPA in the final examination. So, I usually play sports during the weekends. However, during the summer vacation and the winter vacation, I will insist on playing sports everyday. I think that playing sports is beneficial to my health and it is also a good way for me to have a rest and alleviate the heavy study pressure that I have suffered.
4) Should children spend more time playing sports?
Yes, I think so. What I want to mention firstly is that the exercise can let the children be taller and healthier. The parents should teach the children that we should insist on exercising at a young age in order to keep fit in the long run. Furthermore, the exercise will let the children keep jumping and it will make children taller. Secondly, children can make many new friends through exercising. Here, I’d like to take the swimming as an example. When the parents take their children to swim in the swimming pool, they can meet many peers and new friends in the swimming pool. I think it is good chance to teach the children about how to communicate with the strangers bravely as well as to enlarge their social circles. So, based on the two reasons I mentioned, I think spending more time playing sports is indispensable to thẹ children.
5) Do you think group sports are more useful than individual sports?
Well, I think so. What I want to mention firstly is that playing sports on your own is quite boring. If we want to have a healthy lifestyle, we need to exercise for more than two hours every day. I think it will be quite boring if we spend these; two hours exercising alone. However, if we do sports with a group of people, we will feel more interested. Secondly, I think playing sport in a group is a good opportunity to improve the cooperative capacity. Here, I’d like to take the basketball as an example. It is widely acknowledged that the players need to cooperate with each other in order to win scores on the court. I think playing sport in a group can let us learn about how to cooperate with others and I believe it is very beneficial to our future career.
