MODEL ANSWER

(What is it)
Taking up scuba-diving was by far one of the most important events in my life. To be honest, I had never been very keen on sports before, especially as far as water sports were concerned, but once I tried scuba-diving, I completely changed my attitude towards an active way of life. I had not been familiar with the equipment that professional divers use either until one holiday in Coron, when my father came up with the idea of taking a course in scuba-diving.

(When did it happen)
It was last summer when my whole family celebrated my parents’ wedding anniversary in Coron. As the weather was unbearably hot, we wanted to travel to places with breathtaking beaches, sunshine and delicious sea food. While we were walking alongside the beach, my father suggested I experience scuba-diving, with the hope that I could be more physically and mentally able to confront the university entrance examination.

(Do you prefer to celebrate it with a group of people)
Even though the feeling of immersing myself in the fresh water was self-gratifying, I also wanted to share it with my family and my friends. Although the event is not an achievement or something like that, it pushed me out of my comfort zone and motivated me to overcome my inner fears. Given the chance, I wish my close friends had been there that day to celebrate that with me.

(And explain how you felt about it)
I was a bit frightened at the beginning as I found out that such a person of weak physical strength and stamina as me would have to put not only a tank on, but also a weight belt. But as it turned out, it was not that intimidating at all, contrary to what I had previously thought. I found myself in cool water, where I could breathe freely as well as move easily. The only thing I could tell anyone who does not know whether to do something or not is: do not hesitate and try, because it may become an important event in your life, just like it was in my case.

IELTS SPEAKING PART 3:

1. How do people celebrate public events?
(Give a direct answer to the question) In my opinion, the ways to celebrate public events vary from country to country and even from people to people (Explain your reason or reasons) During major public events, street lights change colors, decorations are hung, and festivals turn sleepy downtowns into large-scale celebrations for locals. Just as families and individuals adorn their homes with ornaments and trimmings, cities use their public spaces to welcome the end of the year and local holidays. (Give an example (often a personal example)) For example, each year on December 31st, the streets and squares
of big cities are filled with people celebrating the new year.

2. Do you think it is important to celebrate events?
(Give a direct answer to the question) Of course it is. Festivals have both social and economic benefits. (Explain your reason or reasons) Festivals act like stress relievers and help us balance our emotions. More positivity naturally lowers negativity. It also provides an opportunity to reduce friction and brings estranged friends and relatives together in a bond of love. (Give an example (often a personal example)) As a matter of fact, many celebrations focus on cultural or ethnic topics and seek to inform community members of their traditions. They involve community elders sharing stories and experiences; setting templates for maintaining unity among families.

3. Should the event be prepared in advance?
(Give a direct answer to the question) Probably yes. (Explain your reason or reasons) It is true to say that the success of any event is the result of a careful and thorough plan. Creating this plan takes time and effort which can sometimes take a great deal of time to construct. After all, proper preparations prevent unexpected incidents and ensure everybody in the event feels contented.

4. How to prepare an activity?
(Give a direct answer to the question) There are a lot of considerations when preparing for an activity. (Give an example (often a personal example)) Clear objectives should be devised, teammates or members should be gathered and delegated tasks appropriately. They can help with everything from preparing schedules and budgets, to making invites and posters, to welcoming in guests and doing the dirty work of cleaning up afterward. Besides, all possible expenses, incomes, sponsors, and contingent expenses for the activity should be included.
