Band 8 + Model Answer:

Well, I would like to talk about one of my friends who is very smart; her name is Jennie. She joined the same high school class with me. She is a fun person to be around since she always comes up with (=think of) many interesting ideas. She is also an eco-conscious (showing concern for the environment) person who constantly supports environmental protection acts. One of her most inspired ideas was to convince our teacher to take our class on a camping trip to Horizon beach and while we were there, we could also help clean up (make a place tidy/ clean) the garbage on the beach. Due to mass tourism (when too many people visit the same place at any one time), the beach has been flooded with (receiving too many that you cannot cope with them) tourists in recent years, thus the beach is always full of litter and garbage which they carelessly throw away. With the help of our teacher, our class went on the trip as suggested by Jennie. Although we were able to be there for only 3 days, we formed such a great bond (have a close connection) with each other. At the same time, we also did help clean up part of the beach. At the end of the day (, our action that day somehow raised awareness among the people on the beach and in close proximity to (=near) the beach; some even joined us to pick up the garbage. After this unforgettable trip, we all agreed to plan such trip every year and we still continue to keep this tradition until now. Thanks to Jennie’s idea, our trip was more meaningful (valuable and important). I felt so lucky to know her and study with her.
