Well, the magazine I want to talk about today is Harper’s Bazaar. Harper’s Bazaar is an American women’s fashion magazine, first published in 1867. Aimed at members of the upper-middle and upper classes, Bazaar assembles photographers, artists, designers and writers to deliver perspectives into the world of fashion, beauty and popular culture on a monthly basis. Nowadays, people of different ages will buy this magazine if they are interested in fashion. As for me, I am a crazy fans of Harper’s Bazaar, and I always read the magazine once a month.

To be honest, I like the magazine very much, because I can learn a lot from it. What I want to mention firstly is that I can know about the latest fashion. The editors of the magazine will recommend the most fashionable way of wearing to the readers through the pictures of different pop stars around the world, from which I can get some inspiration about how to pick and match the clothes by myself. Secondly, I can learn about the culture of fashion from the magazine.

Generally speaking, the world of fashion is mysterious. In the Harper’s Bazaar, I can know a lot about the fashion at home and abroad, and I gradually realize that the fashion in different countries is different due to various social and cultural backgrounds. In this case, I enjoy reading Harper’s Bazaar.

1)    What kinds of magazines are the most popular?

Well, I think it depends on different age groups. As for the young children, they prefer the cartoon magazines. Most of them enjoy watching different cartoons at home and abroad during the spare time, in which case, they like reading the cartoon magazines, since they can find their favorite cartoon characters in those magazines. As for the young white-collars, they prefer to read some fashionable magazines, since they can always get some inspirations about the latest fashion through those magazines. As for the middle-aged people and the old people, they prefer to read some political and economic magazines, since they are more interested in what is happening in the current world. Sometimes, they also like reading the health magazines in order to find the best living style.

2)    Do men like to read fashion magazines?

Well, I do not think that the men like to read fashion magazines. As for the young men, they prefer to watch some sport; magazines, since the people at this age are always interested in the famous sports stars as well as different sports competitions at home abroad. In this case, they always read the sports magazines to kill time. As for the middle-aged and old men, they think that the fashionable magazines are extremely boring, and they think that they can learn nothing front those magazines. So, they prefer to read some political and the news magazines to know about the current world in detail.

3) Do people read magazines for fun or for learning?

Well, I think it depends. As for the junior school students and high school students, they prefer to read some magazines for learning. Since those students are very busy with the study, their teachers and parents will always book some learning magazines for them in order to consolidate what they have learned in the classroom. As for the young white-collars and middle-aged people, they prefer to read magazines for fun. Since 29 they are always facing heavy working pressures every day, they will always read some magazines for fun and it is a good way to have a rest and alleviate the heavy working pressure.

4) Do you like to read news magazines?

Yes, I do. What I want to mention firstly is that reading the new magazines can broaden my horizon. In the current globalized society, people should not only know about what is happening around them, but also know about what is happening in the world. I suppose that reading news magazines is a good way for me to broaden my horizon and know about today’s world in detail. Secondly, I think reading news magazines can improve the depth of thought. For example when reading the news magazines, people can learn about how to analyze a problem through reading the news comment^ in the magazines. In this case, I like reading the news magazines.

5) Do you think journalists are subjective in their reports?

Well, I do not think so. What I want to mention firstly is that the basic principal of becoming a journalist is being objective The responsibility of a journalist is to let the public know about the truth, and the journalists are not allowed to convey the subjective opinion in a news report. Since I insist on reading different kinds of newspapers every day, I suppose that most of the articles and news reports I have read are objective. Secondly, I think that most of the journalists will obey their principals. In my country, people need to take strict tests before becoming professional journalists, in this case, the journalist; know what they should do and what they should not do exactly. So, I think the journalists are subjective in their reports.
