Band 6,5 Answer by IELTS Test Taker

I am going to tell about a mistake I made when I was in Australia. I made a trip to Sydney and Adelaide last summer holiday. It was supposed to be an amazing journey. However, I lost my passport at a night club. My girlfriend and I indulged ourselves in traveling. We had great lobster at quintessential Australian restaurant which made us relaxed. Then we headed to a lively night club with a bunch of local friends. I was immersing myself in the fantastic environment, and alcohol drinking was not limited. We even insanely danced at the centre of the stage. Since it was the last night of my holiday, so I checked my package after we went back to hotel. But I was shocked that my passport was not in my pocket. I was restless and anxious to report to the Embassy.

It was a huge mistake I made. I felt profoundly regretted. What I had to do was to cancel my flight to wait the result from embassy. I stayed in hotel, and my girlfriend had to get back to my place to meet her work deadline. I was left alone without any assistance. In addition, I paid extra money to get my temporary passport. So my trip ended up with dramatic twist.

IELTS Speaking Part 3

1)    What kinds of people may lose things often?

Well, I think two groups of people may lose things often. What I want to mention firstly is the careless people. For this group of people, they do not have the habit of putting things in order and they like leaving things around carelessly. In this case, they always forget where they have put the certain things and may lose things often. The second group is the old people. Since they are quite old and they are not as energetic as they were before, most of them become more and more; forgetful as time goes by. So, I think the old people may also lose things often.

2)    What can we do to prevent losing important things?

Well, I think there are several ways. What I want to mention firstly is that people should change the habit of leaving things around carelessly. One of the reasons why people always lose important things is that they do not have a good habit 0placing things in fixed places. So, I think if people want to prevent losing important things, they can develop a habit of putting certain things in the certain places. Secondly, we can write down the places where we always put the important things in the notebook. Since most of the people may be busy with their study and work, and it is unavoidable that people! may sometimes be forgetful when they are extremely busy. In order to prevent losing important things, people can note; down the places where they put important things in the notebook or on the cellphone. So, these are two ways to prevent losing things.

3) What would you do if you saw something valuable but didn’t belong to you on the street?

Well, What I want to mention firstly is that I will certainly not appropriate it to myself. When I was young, my teacher has taught me that it was illegal to use the things of other people without the owners’ permissions. Moreover, it is also a good virtue not to pick up the things that not belong to you. Secondly, I will try my best to find out the person who lost the thing. So, I may pick up the thing and send it to the police station, and ask the policemen to find out the owner.

4) What kinds of things have you lost so far?

Well, to be honest, I have lost many things so far. What I want to mention firstly is my cellphone. Unfortunately, I just lost my mobile phone last month. At that time, I was catching the subway to school. Since the subway was too crowded, and I just put it in my pocket, instead of my bag, when I got off the subway, I found that my mobile phone was stolen by the thief Secondly, I have lost my purse for several times. I like putting my purse on the table while having dinner in the canteen However, I always forget to put the purse back to my pocket as soon as I am going to leave the canteen. In this case, I always lose my purse and I have lost it for more than ten times now.

5) What do you usually do to look for lost items?

Well, firstly, I will go back to the place where I lost the items to check whether the lost things are still there. I think I may ask the people nearby whether they have seen my things. Secondly, if I have lost the important things and I could not find it, I think I will go to the police station and ask the policemen for help. I will tell the policeman about what I have lost and where I have lost so as to let the policeman know about the whole thing in detail. Finally, if I still cannot find it, I may consider about buying a new one.
