Well, to be honest, I’m quite a party person. Noisy and crowded bar is my favorite place to have fun. However, when it comes to work or study, I have to be in a quiet place. Recently, I’m having an internship in a foreign company. In the sixth floor of the office building, there’s a public area for employees to rest. After my first visit, I found this place very quiet and suitable to do some work. So, I go there and enjoy my personal time every afternoon. The reason why I like this place can be twofold. Firstly, I have to say the sofa there is extremely comfortable. Sitting there is like sitting on a marshmallow. It’s indeed a top-notch service to a tired little intern. Secondly, though it’s a public area, the place is no: noisy at all. You can see many foreigners sitting in the meeting room with a cup of coffee beside them. Every one talks in ii low voice so I can concentrate on my work. With the soft music floating in the air, I feel like working is not exhausting but relaxing to me.

1) Is it hard to find quiet places in cities?

No, I do not think so. What I want to mention firstly is that people can find many quiet cafeterias in the city. With the development of the city construction, people can find all kinds of quiet cafeterias in different parts of the cities easily to enjoy the afternoon tea. Secondly, the library is also a quiet place in the city. Nowadays, many people like reading books in their spare time, in which case, the government has invested a large amount of money on the construction of the library in almost every district of the city. In this case, I suppose that it is not hard to find quiet places in cities.

2) Why is it quieter in the countryside?

Well, there are many reasons. What I want to mention firstly is that the number of cars in the countryside is small. Since the countryside is far away from the city and the population there is not very large, most of the people there will not buy cars since they do not always need to go to some places far away. In this case, people can seldom hear the noise of the; cars in the countryside. Secondly, the development of the country is not as advanced as it is in the city. In the city, the; public infrastructure is very advanced, and people can always feel the noise from the public transportation, the KTV, the; shopping mall and so on. However, in the countryside, it is impossible for people to find so many entertainment places, so it is quieter in the countryside.

3) How would you deal with noisy neighbor?

Well, I have some ways to deal with the noisy neighbor. Generally speaking, if my neighbor just makes noise sometimes in the evening, I will not do anything to deal with it. However, if my neighbor makes loud noise almost every day, I will choose to communicate with him and tell him that his behavior has influenced my life, and I will suggest him not to make too much noise in the evening. Moreover, if my neighbor ignores my words and continues to make noise, I think I will complain about his behavior to my community and ask the staff there to solve the problem.

4) Do you think cities are much noisier than before?

Yes, I think so. In the past, the people in the city lived a quiet life, since they did not have too many entertainment lives and most of the people would choose to stay at home and go to bed early in the evening. However, with the rapid development of the technology, people’s lives are becoming more colorful than before. For example, many people will choose to go to KTV, the pub and the big shopping mall in the evening, and the music from those places really makes loud noise. Moreover, the numbers of the cars, the buses and subways are also increasing, which makes the city even morẹ noisier than before.

5) Compared with young people, do old people tend to live in quiet places?

Well, I think the old people tend to live in the quiet places. What I want to mention firstly is that the old people prefer to live in the quiet place and have a good rest every day. Since those people as not as energetic as the young people, they may get tired easily every day, in which case, living in a quiet place provides them with a good chance to have a rest. Secondly, living in a quiet place can let the old people do their own things efficiently. Since most of the old people have already retired, they would like to stay at home and do something they like, including playing chess, practicing handwriting and so on. In this case, a quiet living environment can let the old people do their favorite things efficiently. So, I think the old people tend to live in the quiet place.
