- Are there many people keeping pets in your country?
Well, I think there are quite a large number of people who love to raise pets here in my country. They raise dogs, cats, birds or fishes. For those who are more adventurous (willing to try new or difficult things), they also keep snakes or lizards as pets, which is really bizarre (very strange and unusual) in my opinion.
- Have you ever had a pet when you were young?
Yes when I was little, I had a dog named Lucky. To me, she was one of the cleverest dogs ever. However, she died in an accident when I was studying at school. That really broke my heart into pieces (to cause one to feel great sadness) and I have never adopted any pets since then.
- What pet will you keep if you want?
Well, I am a dog person (a person who keeps dogs as pets), so I definitely want to raise a dog like Huskies. I like their appearance and fluffy fur and I have been told that Huskies are really dynamic and playful ( full of fun and high spirits) and can be good companion (A domestic partner).
- Do you think it is necessary to protect wild animals?
Absolutely yes, there are many species that are on the verge of (being likely to happen or begin very soon) extinction and if we don’t take actions to protect them, they will become extinct, which can detrimentally affect our biodiversity (diversity of plant and animal species in an environment).
- What wild animals do you like?
I am particularly into the Kiwi – New Zealand’s national bird. I find them interesting as although they are birds, they are flightless (incapable of flying). However, a kiwi can outrun (to run faster than) a person due to its muscular (having well-developed muscles) legs.
6. Do you have a pet?
Yes, when I was a child, my aunt got me a puppy. My aunt got me one when he was really young. He didn’t recognise us at first and kept hiding under the bed or sofa. However, as he grew older, he began to recognise our faces and became more comfortable and friendly in our surroundings. Now, my pet and I share a very special bond.
7. Do you like animals?
Yes, I am a huge animal lover. Animals have always had a special place in my heart, and I’ve animals like dogs, fishes, and cats since I was a child.
8. What’s your favourite animal?
I would say dolphins. They’ve intrigued (=attract, arouse someone’s curiosity or interest) me since I first saw them in a dolphin show when I was a child. They are such fun-loving creatures, and they are intelligent and friendly too.
9. What is a popular pet to have in your country?
The majority of people own cats and dogs as pets in their homes. Like any other country, cats and dogs are favoured over all other animals because they are gentle, intelligent, and faithful to their owners. Also, they serve as stress relievers in the family.
10. Did you have a pet as a child?
Yes, a dog. In fact, I still have it. As I said before, my aunt gave it to me when I was 15 years old. My parents did not encourage me to have a pet before that, so I didn’t have any. Having a pet, they reasoned, is a significant responsibility for a child.
11. Why do people have pets?
I believe there are many reasons, but the most important is finding a comfortable friend in the form of a pet. Pets help owners cope with (= deal with) stress and sadness by bringing joy to their lives. It is one of the reasons why they are regarded as family members.
