Describe a law about environment protection your country has

You should say:
what it is
how you first learned about it
who benefits from it
And explain how you feel about this law

BAND 9 MODEL ANSWER

I’m going to describe a regulation that has been put in effect (to cause something to apply, to enforce something) in some big cities in my country, which is banning motorbike use in urban areas. As you know, there are a large number of private vehicles that emit plenty of exhaust fumes (gases ejected from an engine as waste products into the atmosphere, so authorities have done their best to reduce the air pollution and forbidding motorbike is a viable (able to be done, or worth doing) method.

Well, I came across (to find something by chance) this piece of legislation (a law, or a set of laws) on the Internet while I was searching high and low (to search very thoroughly) for my research. I guess enforcing this law (to make sure that something happens or is done) may offer great benefits to anyone in our society since the fewer motorbikes are the less contaminated (make something dirty, polluted, or poisonous) our air is. More specifically, vehicles often send out (allow a substance such as chemicals or smoke to escape into the atmosphere ) fine dusts which cause respiratory diseases (relating to the process of breathing air in and out) and might increase the risk of getting cancer for humans.

In terms of my feeling, I am satisfied with this law because this contributes significantly to cleaning our air instead of smog blanketing (cover something with a layer of something ) the sky most of the time in megacities (a very large city, with a population of at least 10 million). However, I am concerned that the government must make lots of efforts to upgrade infrastructure like subway and road networks in order to make this law more effective.

IELTS Speaking Part 3 (Discussion)

Do you think it is the responsibility of governments alone to protect the environment?

Definitely no! The government has the power to craft environmental policies and enact laws and all people should be aware of protecting the environment and obey to the laws. People simply could not dispose wastes or cut down the trees irresponsibly and expect the government to clean it up or grow the trees.

What measures can individuals take to protect the environment?

Well, everyone can do a lot of things to help protect the environment. The simplest way is to turn off all appliances when they don’t use them. Another measures to preserve the environment is to recycle and segregate their non-biodegradable and biodegradable waste or avoid creating trash by avoiding disposable products. They can also minimize their electricity consumption by using solar power, riding a bike if travelling in short distances, etc. It can gradually make a difference if millions of other people taking these small actions.

Do you think large companies and business organizations should be more environmentally friendly? Why? How?

To be honest, I think all businesses need profit to thrive on the long term but they should not do so at the expense of (resulting in the loss of something) the environment. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is crucial (important). In addition to maximizing shareholder value, socially responsible companies need to promote the well-being of the environment and lessen negative impacts on them.
