Band 7 Answer by IELTS test taker

Talking about a good law in my country, I would like to talk about the Renewable Energy Law that was passed in 2005. The law requires power grid operators to purchase resources from registered renewable energy producers.

The law also offers financial incentives, such as a national fund to foster renewable energy development, and discounter lending and tax preferences for renewable energy projects. I knew this law because my uncle works for national power grid and he told me about this law when he was visiting me in that year. The law is aimed at encouraging the use of clean energy and is expected to boost the use of renewable energy capacity up to 10 percent by the year 2020. National power grid is the first to be affected and our daily use of energy might also come from more diversified sources.

As for the reason why I think the law is good, well, first of all, the law can be very effective in encouraging more use o clean energy, which is expected to lead to continued economic growth, the cleaner air for residents, the reduction in greenhouse gases, and technological progress. Secondly, it also indicates that, our country, as one of the world’s largest economies is now shouldering its due responsibility by making one of the largest state-sponsored commitments toward renewable energy.
